Pastor Dave Routh is a second career pastor. He grew up in his home town of Potsdam, NY. While attending college in Farmingdale, Long Island, he met his future wife, Joan.After obtaining his private pilot’s license and Aircraft Maintenance Technician licenses in Utica, NY, he moved back to Long Island to start an aviation career and married Joan.

A few years later Dave and Joan moved to the Glens Falls area where they have lived ever since.  Buying a home in South Glens Falls, they joined the United MethodistChurch there and started a family. They have two adult children, Ernest and Rebecca. Dave was very active in his church and also as a Scout leader for 12 years.

In 1992 Dave attended a spiritual renewal weekend called “The Walk to Emmaus” where he first sensed the Lord’s call to something more. He became a Certified Lay Speaker and served several north country churches as Lay Pulpit Supply. Later he was assigned to Lake George UMC. Dave completed The United Methodist Local Pastor Licensing School in June of 2016 and is currently continuing with the prescribed course of studies.

In July 2017 he was appointed as pastor to Galway UMC. He retired from his service manager’s position at the Warren County Airport in May of 2019.

“I guess I always was in a service industry. But now, serving the church, I see ministry asthe responsibility of lay and clergy jointly promoting the mission of making disciples for Jesus Christ.”

Jesus says in his society there is a new way for [people] to live:
you show wisdom, by trusting people;
you handle leadership, by serving;
you handle offenders, by forgiving;
you handle money, by sharing;
you handle enemies, by loving;
and you handle violence, by suffering.
In fact, you have a new attitude toward everything, toward everybody....
Because this is a Jesus society, and you repent, not by feeling bad, but by thinking different
